Mark your calendars now! SOCMA is gearing up for the 2018 Regional Roundtables, where members and others within the fine and specialty chemicals sector can have peer-to-peer discussions and share best practices about the latest trends and regulatory updates impacting the industry.
This year our discussions will focus on establishing a safety culture in your facilities. Whether you are in the performance, agricultural or pharmaceutical sector of the chemical supply chain, these personal information-sharing opportunities are vital to learning how your peers are implementing environmental, health and safety standards, as well as sharing insight on challenges and similar situations you are all facing within your own companies.
While working for SOCMA member Bimax, I attended three of the four Regional Roundtables in 2016 to broaden my horizon, as well establish benchmarks for the year. These Roundtable discussions focused on operational excellence, and there were breakout sessions, where we heard directly from auditors about the inspection process. We also had opportunities to hear about best practices used to showcase a facility while avoiding unwanted circumstances. This year’s theme may be different, but it’s just as important.
I cannot begin to tell you the value I received from participating in these discussions. In many cases I personally shared my experiences with the group and, in return, received valuable information from my colleagues. As a result, the knowledge gained assisted me in implementing beneficial change that previously was not possible.
Because so many of you had high praise for the Roundtable format, we are bringing it back to this year’s meetings.
As SOCMA’s new Senior Director of Compliance and Stewardship, I would like to personally invite you to attend our Regional Roundtables that will be held:
- May 1 - Pittsburgh, PA
- May 15 - Houston, TX
- May 22 - Marietta, GA
A more detailed agenda for these important discussions will be coming your way soon.
If you would like to know more about this year’s Roundtables, or how they can benefit your company, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or ChemStewards Manager Emylyn Noma. We are more than happy to assist you.
I look forward to seeing you at one, or more, of our Regional Roundtables this spring!
