Government Relations Committees Overview
The SOCMA Government Relations department offers many ways for SOCMA members to get involved. There are four Government Relations Committees - Environment, Chemical Risk Management, Safety and Security, and International Trade members are encouraged to join. Committees consist of member representatives, SOCMA staff managers, and legal counsel. The committees identify key issues impacting specialty-batch manufacturers, formulate association policy on these issues and promote members' interests through direct advocacy, formal comments and aggressive outreach to interested parties. The committees develop guidance manuals and create issue-specific workshops for members on compliance and enforcement issues, and when appropriate, will collaborate with other associations.
SOCMA's committees provide an invaluable service by advising on an extensive range of subjects and issues that aid the Board of Governors in the decision-making process. By joining a committee, member companies also find benefit in the professional development and leadership opportunities that result from their participation.
