There are many ways SOCMA members can get involved in our advocacy efforts, including five Government Relations committees – Chemical Risk Management, Environment, Safety and Security, International Trade and Government Relations Steering Committee. These committees, which consist of member representatives, SOCMA staff managers and legal counsel, identify key issues impacting specialty chemical manufacturers, formulate association policy on these issues and promote members' interests through direct advocacy, formal comments and aggressive outreach to interested parties. The committees develop guidance manuals and create issue-specific workshops for members on compliance and enforcement issues, and when appropriate, collaborate with other associations.
SOCMA committees provide an invaluable service by advising on an extensive range of subjects and issues that aid our Board of Governors in the decision-making process. By joining a committee, member companies also find benefit in the professional development and leadership opportunities that result from their participation.
