ARLINGTON, VA – The Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA) today congratulates Representative Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina on being named Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget. SOCMA Managing Director of Government Relations Robert F. Helminiak released the following statement on the appointment:

“We congratulate Director Mulvaney on his confirmation and look forward to working with him and the Administration. Having previously represented a district with several SOCMA members, the Director is well aware of the impact regulations can have on manufacturers – and particularly on small and medium-sized businesses. SOCMA recognizes the value of some regulations in providing environmental and health benefits, and we will continue to actively engage with OMB throughout the regulatory process. We hope, however, the Director will lead a renewed effort to give a more accurate consideration of the costs of proposed rules during that process.”

Since 1921 SOCMA has represented a diverse membership of small, medium and large chemical companies located around the world bringing world-class support uniquely tailored to enhance the operational excellence of our member companies. SOCMA is the only U.S.-based trade association dedicated solely to the specialty chemical industry, making us the leading authority on this sector. For more information, visit
