ARLINGTON, VA - The Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA) today congratulates Scott Pruitt, who was confirmed by the Senate as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Friday, February 17. Pruitt previously held a seat in the Oklahoma Senate and served as the Attorney General for Oklahoma.

SOCMA Managing Director of Government Relations Robert F. Helminiak released the following statement about the appointment:

"SOCMA congratulates Administrator Pruitt on his confirmation and looks forward to working with him and continuing our important work with EPA. We welcome the opportunity to present SOCMA’s interests to EPA, including our members' positions on the development of Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) rules, resolution to the Clean Power Plan, and addressing concerns with the Risk Management Plan (RMP) rulemaking. We hope the Administrator will take into consideration the economic impact of EPA rules, especially the cumulative impact they have on small and medium-size businesses."
