(SOCMA) will celebrate a banner year of success for the innovative specialty chemical sector during its
"In visiting and talking with our members, we are thrilled to know so many specialty chemical companies are enjoying a record year," said SOCMA President and CEO Jennifer Abril. "And there's no better time to celebrate this success than among colleagues, customers and friends as the specialty chemical industry gathers for the iconic SOCMA Dinner in New York."
SOCMA is also taking the opportunity to share more insight on the association's implementation of a new model for its membership base in 2018.
"Looking to the new year and beyond, we will introduce a segmentation model, with the intention of focusing on growth opportunities and supply chain issues across the specialty chemical industry," said Abril. "In our new sector groups - Performance Chemicals, Ag Chemicals and Pharma Chemicals - interested members can discuss the latest trends, technology, science and policy issues so they can be up to speed and see further down the value chain in key markets."
Speakers at SOCMA's Annual Meeting and Dinner will provide members and guests with valuable insight into the economy and industry trends as the association embarks on its new direction.
New to this year's event are three ChemTrends sessions focusing on industry and chemical spending insight within the specialty chemical market.
- Future of Success through the Lense of Private Equity - Larry Thomas, Director of Investment Banking, Spouting Rock Capital Advisors
- Finding People Who Make a Difference - Pete Norton, Managing Partner and Search Consultant, Sanford Rose Associate
- 2018 Chemical Industry Spending Outlook, USA & Canada - Trey Hamblet, Global Vice President of Research for the Chemical Processing Industry, Industrial Info Resources
The featured entertainer at this year's Annual Dinner is Jeff Havens, who combines the content of the traditional presentation with the entertainment value of a comedy show. Havens has found enthusiastic audiences in government, academia, small businesses and several Fortune 50 companies, all while still being one of the youngest members of the professional speaking circuit.
Another highlight of the evening is recognition of SOCMA's Performance Improvement, Sustainability and Educational Outreach Award winners, as well as a presentation to the American Chemical Society's Scholars Program.
Registration fee for both the dinner and reception is waived for credentialed press, but space is limited. Contact Jenny Gaines at (571) 348-5110 to RSVP. For hotel reservations, call 1-212-977-4000, or register online.
