Command the attention of your elected officials in Washington for a day by visiting them on Capitol Hill this spring. Participate in SOCMA’s annual Fly-In and ensure that your Congressperson and senators know the issues that matter most to your business.

This members-only event gives your company the opportunity to directly voice your concerns on Capitol Hill.  SOCMA will arrange your appointments and equip you with the necessary tools to make your visits effective and worthwhile. During this day and a half event, members will hear from Congressional speakers, network with fellow SOCMA members, and spend the day meeting with Congressional offices.

Member participation over the past four years have helped to pass legislation benefiting our industry, created opportunities for Congressional representatives to visit member’s facilities, and strengthen relationships between SOCMA members and their representatives.

Tuesday, April 17
3:30 PM – Fly-In 101/Prep for Capitol Hill Meetings – SOCMA Office
Please meet at the SOCMA Offices (1850 M Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20036) for the Fly-In 101.  This will be a preparation session for your Capitol Hill visits.  You will receive a SOCMA CONNECT handbook, congressional directory, and schedule of meetings.  SOCMA’s government relations staff will discuss SOCMA’s legislative agenda, tips for a successful Congressional meeting, logistical details, and answer any of your questions.  Please plan to check into your hotel before this meeting.

6:00 PM – Capitol Hill Reception – Capitol Hill Club
We will hold a networking reception for you to mingle with Members of Congress and their staff at the esteemed Capitol Hill Club, one block from the U.S. Capitol.

7:45 PM – SOCMA CONNECT Dinner – Old Ebbitt Grill
After the reception, you will go to the Old Ebbitt Grill for dinner, located less than a block from the White House.  Founded in 1856, the Old Ebbitt Grill is Washington’s oldest, most historic saloon.

Wednesday, April 18
7:00 AM - Breakfast – SOCMA Offices
SOCMA staff will address your last-minute questions at a breakfast before going to Congressional meetings.

9:00 AM - 4:00 PM – Capitol Hill Meetings
You will participate in 2-5 meetings with Members of Congress or their staff between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm in various House and Senate Office Buildings.

11:30 AM - 3:30 PM – Capitol Hill Luncheon – Capitol Hill Club
Between Congressional meetings, you will have lunch at the Capitol Hill Club, providing the opportunity to discuss your experience with SOCMA staff and your fellow members.
