SOCMA’s 87th Annual Dinner hosted nearly 400 professionals and guests from the specialty and batch chemical industry in the heart of New York City’s Times Square. The event boasted a crowd of the most influential industry executives, staff and guests in one of New York City’s finest hotels. Attendees enjoyed a cocktail networking reception sponsored by Dixie Chemical Company, a gourmet steak dinner and dessert with Spanish table wine sponsored by Invest in Murcia, Spain, and entertainment by Kathleen Madigan, one of America’s top stand-up comedians, sponsored by Syrgis. During an awards ceremony preceding dinner and the show, SOCMA presented the ACS Scholars Program with a check for $3000 in proceeds from SOCMA’s Annual Member/Guest Golf Tournament. For the first time, the student recipient of that scholarship was able to attend the ceremony. Bola Adeniran, a chemical engineering student at Columbia University, thanked SOCMA’s members in attendance for their generosity and was excited to take her “big check” back to her dorm room! John Rice, Executive Director of the Chemical Educational Foundation, presented the 2008 winner of their Educational Outreach Award, KMCO, LP, with a check for $2500 to donate to a school of their choice. Additionally, Charlie Hinnant, the Chairman of SOCMA’s Board of Governors, acknowledged the winners of SOCMA’s 2008 Gold, Silver and Bronze Performance Improvement Awards. Congratulations to SOCMA’s 2008 Performance Improvement Gold Award winners: After the conclusion of the awards ceremony and dinner, guests were treated to a show by stand-up comedian Kathleen Madigan. Madigan kept the room laughing until the conclusion of the evening. If you were unable to join SOCMA at the 87th Annual Dinner, please plan to attend SOCMA’s 88th Annual Dinner December 7th, 2009 in New York City. If you are interested in sponsorship opportunities for this and other widely-attended SOCMA events, please contact Liesa Brown at brownl@socma.com. SOCMA thanks our generous sponsors:

What Members Are Saying…
“SOCMA’s Chemical Bond Express and Capitol Connect newsletters are very helpful; our company does not have endless resources to keep up with regulatory issues and what’s happening on Capitol Hill. These informative and timely documents are invaluable resources.”
