SOCMA’s 93rd Annual Dinner brought over 350 chemical industry professionals and guests to the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Attendees experienced an educational speaker session, plenty of networking opportunities and an elegant dinner.

The program once again began with a Leadership and Business Development Speaker Showcase on Monday afternoon, sponsored by Polysciences, Inc. The showcase included presentations from Peter Brown, brand advertising expert and CEO of Notch Communications, and Peter Tanous, finance expert and Chairman of Lynx Investment Advisory. Following the showcase, dozens of attendees gathered for a Speed Networking Reception, sponsored by ProcessPro. The room was packed and business cards were constantly changing hands during one of the highlights of this year’s event.

Attendees then enjoyed a Cocktail Reception sponsored by Dixie Chemical before convening in the Westside Ballroom for the awards presentation and dinner, sponsored by Lynx Investment Advisory. During the awards presentation, SOCMA President Larry Sloan honored all recipients of the 2014 Performance Improvement Awards and presented a check for $7,100 to the American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program, thanks to the success of SOCMA’s 2014 Chemical Industry Golf Tournament in Malvern, PA. ACS’s Executive Director and CEO, Madeleine Jacobs, was also honored for her work in the industry with the SOCMA President’s Leadership Award.

Congratulations to SOCMA’s 2014 Performance Improvement Gold Award winners:

Following dinner, guests were treated to dark chocolate cake for dessert, sponsored by The Wercs, while the Unexpected Boys took the stage. The Unexpected Boys, this year’s entertainment – sponsored by Informex, are the top Four Seasons tribute act in the world, and got the crowd excited with some of the group’s biggest hits, like Sherry and Let’s Hang On.

The final feature of the 93rd Annual Dinner, the Cordials Reception sponsored by GFS Chemicals, gave attendees one last chance to network before departing New York.

If you were unable to join SOCMA at this year's dinner, please plan to attend SOCMA’s 94th Annual Dinner, December 7th, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan.

Thank you sponsors!
